Job description

Role Overview

We are searching for a compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team at Elderslea Lodge in Upper Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand. This role offers the chance to provide meaningful support, ensuring residents live with dignity, comfort, and connection daily in a warm, values-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal care while preserving the dignity, privacy, and comfort of residents.
  • Assist residents with daily routines including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration needs.
  • Monitor residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Establish and maintain respectful and trusting relationships with residents and their families/whānau.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment fostering wellbeing and independence.
  • Adhere to individual care plans and cooperate closely with Registered Nurses to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with residents, families, and the care team.
  • Ensure health, safety, and infection control standards are followed to safeguard all.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of one year’s experience in caregiving, aged care, or a related field.
  • Exemplify compassion, patience, and respect in caring for older adults.
  • Possess clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Commitment to resident-centred care, prioritising safety and dignity.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster including weekends and night shifts.
