Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and interpersonal Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to join our Otara manufacturing site with some involvement at our Auckland office. This role offers the chance to foster a positive safety culture, engage with employees at all levels, and influence continuous improvement for a safer and healthier workspace.
Responsibilities
- Assist the HSE Lead in executing the health, safety and environmental strategy, annual planning, and ongoing enhancement initiatives.
- Provide hands-on HSE guidance and coaching to leaders and staff, facilitate risk assessments, and establish effective control measures.
- Support development and refinement of the Health & Safety Management System ensuring alignment with legislations and organizational standards.
- Lead investigations into incidents with root cause analysis and management of corrective actions.
- Organize and conduct workplace inspections, audits, monitoring activities to uphold compliance and improve safety performance.
- Collaborate with employees and leadership on injury management efforts, including Return to Work programs.
- Deliver HSE training sessions, toolbox talks, meetings, and promote workforce participation and consultation to bolster safety engagement.
- Monitor health, safety, and environmental metrics; analyze trends; prepare relevant reports; and support compliance and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualifications in Health, Safety & Environment paired with substantial practical experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills—capable of interacting effectively at all organizational levels from shop floor to management.
- Skilled in influencing stakeholders without direct authority and providing coaching on this ability.
- Capable of maintaining high integrity and confidentiality, adept at working under pressure and adapting to evolving environments.
- Pragmatic with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
