About the Role

Our client, a prominent European technology consultancy, is seeking a Head of Software to lead, modernize, and grow their software practice in Ireland. This practice encompasses over 100 professionals, including software engineers, architects, DevOps, and test specialists, maintaining high utilization on long-term enterprise projects.

You will manage multiple senior managers and lead a large team while fostering performance and positive culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and mentor a software practice of 100+ professionals, managing senior managers and promoting strong team engagement and culture.
• Enhance the software development lifecycle by integrating AI capabilities, modern tools, and engineering/product methodologies.
• Implement product-focused delivery methods, including outcome-oriented roadmaps, platform-oriented thinking, continuous discovery, and ownership of build/run platforms.
• Work closely with client leaders and sales teams to develop go-to-market plans, shape proposals, and meet booking and utilization objectives.
• Collaborate with technology leaders across Advisory, Architecture, Product & Design, and Quality Assurance departments locally and internationally.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex or troubled project implementations.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in software development, including at least 5 years in executive or practice leadership roles.
• Proven expertise in transitioning organizations from project-centric models to product-centric delivery, managing platform strategies, and leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong experience in consulting or professional services, with skills in commercial proposal creation and pre-sales strategy.
• Comprehensive knowledge of modern software engineering practices, Agile methodologies, DevOps, and emerging technologies like AI integration within the SDLC.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
