About the Role
As the Head of the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem at JetBrains, you will lead the strategic vision shaping our products targeted at JavaScript and TypeScript developers. Your mission will be to synchronize product strategies, marketing efforts, and external partnerships aligned to the ever-changing landscape of web development. This entails converting community trends—from frameworks and tools to evolving developer practices—into actionable priorities for JetBrains products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and steer the strategic roadmap for JetBrains' solutions aimed at web developers, initiating new product avenues where gaps exist.
- Guide the efforts of product management, marketing, developer advocacy, and partnership teams to ensure unified progress.
- Monitor critical shifts and advancements within the web development community, encompassing frameworks, tooling upgrades, and new workflows.
- Foster and nurture partnerships with pivotal stakeholders such as companies, open-source initiatives, and community figures.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance leaders to prioritize projects and plan development activities.
- Represent JetBrains publicly at significant industry events and community engagements.
- Coordinate with teams focused on other related ecosystems (e.g., Databases, Go, AI) to manage overlapping areas.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in web development workflows including JavaScript/TypeScript, major frameworks (notably React), Node.js, browser tooling, package management, build systems, linting/formatting tools, testing, and performance analysis.
- Proven experience as a Product Manager or Head of Product, particularly in setting products' future directions grounded on market and user needs.
- Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams across product management, marketing, developer relations, and business development.
- Strong outward-facing skills encompassing partnership building, community interaction, and executive communication.
- Data-driven mindset leveraging community feedback, product usage statistics, and business metrics to guide decisions.
