About the Role
We represent a prominent global marketplace e-commerce company offering over 10 million products worldwide. Currently, the organization is seeking a highly skilled leader to manage an engineering department comprising 20 professionals across three teams. Ideal candidates should have experience with web platforms, particularly in marketplaces or eCommerce domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise an engineering department of 20+ members, promoting coaching and mentorship for technical team leads.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Engineering and CTO to optimize resource allocation, monitor performance, and implement best practices across cross-functional teams.
- Ensure the secure operation and continuous advancement of the company’s platform and online shop.
- Engage with stakeholders from various business areas to foster transparency and alignment.
Impact and Growth
You will significantly influence the company by shaping and refining the software engineering teams and agile frameworks, encouraging greater autonomy, establishing technical roadmaps, and assisting in the technological strategy development alongside the Director of Engineering.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership experience with agile and digital teams, preferably managing over 20 engineers.
- Expertise in cultivating software engineering culture, practices, and processes.
- A robust engineering background with at least 8 years of experience, ideally with Java.
- Hands-on expertise in defining architecture, quality assurance, and security protocols.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Agile scaling methodologies.
- Fluency in English is essential; German proficiency is advantageous.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly expanding setting.
Additional Details
- Employment is permanent, full-time, based in Munich with hybrid work options (two remote days weekly).
- Compensation ranges from 100,000 to 125,000 EUR annually, commensurate with experience, along with additional benefits.
