Job description

Role Overview

Our client seeks an energetic Head of Human Resources to lead the HR department from their Bangalore corporate office. This strategic leadership position involves overseeing the HR functions for a prominent group operating in retail and manufacturing, managing over 1,000 employees across the headquarters and multiple branch locations within Karnataka.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an integrated HR strategy aligned with the group’s business objectives across retail and manufacturing sectors.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Board and executive leadership on organizational structure, succession plans, and senior leadership matters.
  • Promote and embed corporate culture and values throughout varied workforces including corporate teams, retail staff, and manufacturing plants.
  • Create and manage innovative talent acquisition strategies that address the needs of both high-turnover retail environments and skilled manufacturing roles.
  • Establish comprehensive performance management systems that connect employee KPIs to business results and reward mechanisms.
  • Drive capacity building initiatives, leadership growth, and continuous learning at all organizational levels.
  • Lead employee engagement strategies to enhance retention across offices and retail outlets.
  • Implement grievance policies and mechanisms to proactively handle institutional risks and maintain positive employee relations.
  • Ensure smooth labor relations, bridging cultural gaps between various worker groups including corporate, retail, and frontline employees.
  • Standardize compensation, benefits, and reward programs group-wide to remain competitive in the market.
  • Maintain compliance with Indian labor laws, including the Shops & Establishment and Factories Acts.

Candidate Profile

  • 20 to 25 years of progressive HR career experience, with a minimum of 8 to 10 years serving as a senior HR leader in reputed organizations combining retail and manufacturing sectors in Karnataka.
  • Experience overseeing a large workforce exceeding 1,000 employees across multiple locations.
  • Fluent communication and presentation skills in English, along with proficiency in Kannada for regional branch coordination.

Educational Qualifications

  • Mandatory: Full-time MBA or Postgraduate degree in Human Resources from a renowned institution.
  • Preferred: Additional qualifications in Law (LL.B. or LL.M.) with in-depth knowledge of employment laws.

Core Competencies

  • Expertise in formulating strategic HR plans, scaling workforce, and managing organizational change.
  • Strong commercial insight with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
