Head Cashier - Full Time

About the Role

The Home Depot in Coquitlam, British Columbia, is seeking a Head Cashier who thrives on empowering team members, delivering outstanding customer service, and enjoys learning and growing within a supportive retail environment. This role involves supporting the Front End Supervisor by motivating associates, overseeing checkout operations, and handling first-level customer escalations.

Key Responsibilities

• Exemplify GET behaviours, fostering positive associate morale and ensuring exceptional customer service consistently.
• Manage checkout lines to ensure wait times do not exceed one person at the register plus two waiting in line.
• Conduct daily walkthroughs of the front end to confirm readiness for grand openings, promotions, and flyer displays.
• Monitor staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage and provide coaching, training, and recognition to associates to support their development and performance.
• Communicate leadership goals and directions clearly to front-end team members.
• Maintain a clean and safe parking lot environment.
• Coordinate backup cashiers and assign them to designated registers as needed.
• Operate cash registers and train cashiers on their use.
• Collaborate with security personnel to assist with cash collection procedures.
• Adhere strictly to Safety and Loss Prevention protocols to minimize shrink and protect company assets.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One to two years of retail or cashier experience is beneficial.
• At least one year of supervisory or leadership experience in a team environment.

Additional Information

The position reports to the Department Supervisor. There are no travel requirements. Certifications and other special qualifications are not required for this role.

Compensation

The pay for this position ranges from $20.40 to $22.15 per hour.
