About the Role
Piccolo by Amici, an Italian-inspired coffee and street-food venue located in Canberra's CBD, is seeking an experienced full-time Head Barista to lead the coffee operations. Serving ST. ALi specialty coffee alongside a concise Italian menu, the cafe aims to become one of Canberra's top boutique coffee bars.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering high-quality coffee efficiently and consistently even during busy periods.
- Adjusting and maintaining optimal espresso extraction throughout service hours.
- Providing rapid, well-organized service under pressure.
- Skilful milk texturing and executing quality latte art.
- Keeping the coffee station exceptionally clean and orderly.
- Training staff and upholding coffee service standards across the team.
- Managing inventory of coffee, milk, and related supplies.
- Monitoring waste levels and ensuring consistency in coffee quality.
- Building customer loyalty with regular patrons.
- Taking full ownership of the coffee program and its development.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a busy, quality-driven café environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of espresso brewing methods.
- Expertise in milk texturing techniques and latte art presentation.
- Ability to work rapidly without compromising quality standards.
- Competence in dialing in espresso machines and troubleshooting issues.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- High standards of cleanliness and organizational skills.
- Dependability and a heartfelt passion for hospitality.
