Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Head Barista to join our retail team in our London store. This full-time position reports directly to the Store Manager and involves ensuring high standards of coffee preparation and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the store's café, delivering outstanding coffee beverages and exceptional hospitality.
- Lead and support the café team by providing coaching and feedback to nurture a high-performance, service-focused culture that achieves store KPIs.
- Maintain superior coffee quality through team training, supplier management, and product oversight.
- Keep the coffee bar stocked efficiently while reducing waste; manage relationships with coffee, bakery, and packaging suppliers to enhance the café offerings.
- Ensure full compliance with food hygiene standards, staff training regulations, and all relevant legal requirements.
- Maintain the physical environment and digital systems through effective merchandising, stock control, and loss prevention, consistently seeking incremental improvements.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced head barista passionate about leading teams and driving success from the front.
- Proficient in specialty coffee skills including dialling-in, espresso profile development, and knowledge of the coffee flavour wheel; familiar with ModBar, La Marzocco, or comparable espresso machines.
- Certified with Level 3 Supervising Food Hygiene and knowledgeable in HACCP, hospitality health and safety, COSHH, and Fire Risk Assessments related to food businesses.
- A community builder who connects well locally and is eager to become a trusted figure in the area.
- Possesses a strong attention to detail, prioritizing quality and consistency.
- Innovative mindset, constantly seeking creative ways to advance the café and stay competitive.

Additional Information

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week including weekends and evenings
Hourly Pay: £16.50 plus bonus scheme
