Head Accountant

Overview

The role of Head Accountant at Aura Group in Doha, Qatar involves leading comprehensive accounting functions with a focus on financial accuracy, compliance, and reporting. Preference will be given to candidates currently settled in Doha with transferable visas or NOCs where relevant.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage payroll processing along with ensuring compliance to the Wage Protection System for prompt and precise salary disbursements.
• Lead monthly and annual closing processes such as accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial reports.
• Maintain meticulous records in the Fixed Assets Register, managing capitalization, depreciation, asset transfers, and disposals effectively.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements, management reports, and conduct variance analyses for accurate financial insights.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, internal company policies, and all applicable local regulatory frameworks.
• Coordinate and support external audit activities and annual audits successfully.
• Supervise accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable departments.
• Drive initiatives to improve processes and enhance the strength of financial controls.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in accounting, including leadership roles at senior levels.
• Strong practical experience in payroll management and WPS compliance, month-end closing activities, fixed assets accounting, general ledger oversight, and financial statement preparation.
• Advanced user of SAP ERP system, preferably within FI/CO modules.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with advanced skills such as Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, dashboard development, and financial modelling techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of IFRS reporting standards and solid understanding of financial controls.
• Preferably possesses GCC work experience.
• Professional accounting qualifications like CPA, ACCA, or CMA are highly desirable.
