Join Our Team
We are seeking a dedicated Hatchery Operative to become an integral member of our Usselby Hatchery team. This is a hands-on position in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing comprehensive training and promising long-term career progression opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage of £13.25, paid on a weekly basis
- Additional Saturday premium pay of £4.71 per hour

Working Schedule
- Monday: 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Tuesday: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Friday: 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Role Overview
As a Hatchery Operative, you will contribute significantly to the initial stage of our supply chain. Your duties will include managing the hatching process and preparing chicks for timely delivery to farms, ensuring quality and efficiency throughout.
Primary Responsibilities
- Classify chicks appropriately by grade and quantity to prepare them for farm distribution
- Efficiently transfer eggs from storage to incubation equipment and oversee the hatching processes
- Ensure exemplary hygiene by cleaning equipment and surrounding workspaces
- Adhere strictly to biosecurity protocols to safeguard bird health and welfare
- Maintain attentive monitoring of bird welfare while complying with all health and safety regulations
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily production objectives

- Proficiency in English with basic numerical skills
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities

- Flexible and dependable approach to assignments
- Experience in sectors such as hatchery operations, farming, agriculture, food production, or manufacturing is beneficial but not mandatory
- Complete training will be provided to all new team members
