Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register efficiently.
• Manage inventory using computerized record-keeping and reordering systems.
• Provide informed advice to customers regarding merchandise.
• Assist in arranging and displaying products attractively.
• Estimate prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery timelines.
• Welcome customers and discuss their needs concerning the type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services, including purchase, rental, or lease options.
• Prepare merchandise appropriately for sale, rental, or lease.
• Perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Engage in suggestive selling to enhance customer purchases.

Required Experience and Product Knowledge

• Familiarity with building materials other than lumber.
• Knowledge about lumber and plywood.
• Understanding of paint and wallpaper products.
• Experience with power tools.
