Job description
Role Overview
The Facilities Technician working during out-of-hours is responsible for various maintenance and repair duties throughout residential and commercial areas within the business. Tasks cover multiple practical areas such as minor plumbing issues (e.g., leaks, toilets), electrical fixes (e.g., bulbs, smoke alarms, fuses), carpentry projects (e.g., installing shelves, fixing doors and cabinets), painting, decorating, and general upkeep including gardening and appliance setup. This position demands a broad set of practical skills and responsive service capabilities.
Working Pattern
The technician operates a shift pattern of 4 consecutive days on followed by 4 days off, providing out-of-hours support. Shifts run on a rota and consist of either 19:00 to 07:00 or 20:00 to 08:00.
Key Duties
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs such as stopping dripping taps, unblocking sinks, fixing toilets and clearing drains.
- Replace lighting components including bulbs, light fixtures, and fuses.
- Carry out carpentry tasks like hanging pictures, installing shelves and curtain rails, assembling furniture, and minor cabinet repairs.
- Perform painting and decorating touch-ups, including surface preparation and restoration.
- Maintain grounds through basic gardening, gutter cleaning, and preparations for variable weather.
- Ensure all work adheres to health and safety requirements, using personal protective equipment and following risk assessments and manual handling guidelines.
- Carry out regular safety inspections and contribute to incident response as needed.
- Collaborate with operational teams to support repair needs across residential, commercial, event, entertainment, and seasonal attraction areas, ensuring tools, materials, and parts are stocked and compliant with brand standards.
- Minimize disruption to guests and operational activities while completing maintenance work.
- Maintain professionalism and focus on guest experience while working in public areas, providing advice and assistance to resort departments.
- Keep workspaces clean and orderly with high housekeeping standards.
