Job description
Overview
This role reports to the GSE Supervisor within the Projects and Engineering Department, focusing primarily on maintaining and servicing mechanical vehicles and airport ground support equipment at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces before commencing work.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and servicing on aircraft ground support equipment as well as light and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Maintain the highest quality standards in servicing ground equipment.
- Conduct tests on engines, gearboxes, steering, brakes, and instruments post servicing.
- Carry out final inspections on significant repairs before equipment release.
- Diagnose faults for unscheduled maintenance or repairs, disassemble and overhaul components or assemblies in the workshop.
- Simulate on-site fault diagnostics and repair malfunctioning equipment or vehicles.
- Safeguard allocated tool kits and manage replacements for worn or damaged tools.
- Complete outstanding work before shift ends and remain available for emergency calls due to equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions on all motorized and non-motorized GSE equipment according to manuals and procedures.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles and operate ground support equipment.
- Collaborate with other mechanics in repairing vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Maintain daily records of completed work, materials utilized, and time spent, updating relevant registers.
- Adhere to standards of housekeeping, safety, and personal appearance.
- Communicate regularly with internal departments for servicing and repairs.
- Update equipment service logs and schedules, following instructions for materials withdrawal and reporting.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of higher secondary education (Grade 12) plus 2 years of formal training or apprenticeship in the mechanical trade.
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience in ground support equipment (GSE) and automobile maintenance.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic languages is advantageous.
Safety Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety protocols as specified in the Aerodrome Operations Manual, Safety Management System, and relevant instructions from airport authorities.
- Follow safety requirements covered in provided training.
- Report any safety incidents or risks promptly to supervisors, department heads, airport duty officers, or the Safety Department.
- Participate and support safety audits and investigations as required.
