Group Financial Controller

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior finance professional to assume the role of Group Financial Controller within a multifaceted organization. This pivotal position is ideal for an experienced Finance Manager or Financial Controller who merges robust technical financial expertise with a proactive commercial mindset.

Reporting directly to the CFO and collaborating closely with senior leadership, you will steer the financial reporting and control functions across the Group. You will guide and nurture the finance team, and play a vital role in enhancing systems, processes, and reporting as the company evolves.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial control activities for the Group, including multiple entities.
• Lead the month-end closing process and ensure the delivery of precise management accounts.
• Manage group consolidations, reporting, and balance sheet control.
• Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management procedures.
• Provide insightful financial analysis and commentary to the CFO and senior executives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the members of the finance team.
• Maintain a robust financial control environment across the entire Group.
• Oversee statutory reporting, year-end closing, and audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other legal financial obligations.
• Collaborate with operational teams to enhance financial performance and decision-making.
• Continuously evaluate and improve finance processes, internal controls, and reporting.
• Facilitate the advancement of finance systems and automation of reporting mechanisms.
• Manage relationships with external parties such as auditors, banks, and consultants.
• Assist the CFO with strategic, commercial, and finance-related initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will be a certified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA) with significant post-qualification experience at a senior finance level such as Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or Senior Finance Manager.

• Proven expertise in financial control and management reporting.
• Experience working within multi-entity or group structures.
• A track record of leading and developing finance teams effectively.
• Strong skills in month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• History of enhancing financial controls, reporting, and processes.
• Technically adept with a focus on finance system improvements and automation efforts.
• Ability to operate both at granular detail and strategic commercial levels.
• Excellent communication abilities, demonstrating confidence when engaging with senior leaders.
