About the Role
We are actively seeking a Deputy Treasurer to join our Auckland-based team within Heartland Bank, a New Zealand-owned institution with ambitious growth targets. The successful candidate will play a key part in overseeing funding, liquidity, and interest rate risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior management to shape balance sheet strategy and monitor its performance.
- Oversee liquidity, funding, and activities in wholesale markets.
- Assist with capital management and supervise interest rate risk.
- Contribute to the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO) reporting and support its decision-making process.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with investors, banks, and credit rating agencies.
- Deliver treasury insights that guide business and strategic direction.
- Lead and cultivate Treasury team capabilities within a high-achieving environment.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience in banking and financial services, positioned to be second-in-command to the Treasurer.
- Strong leadership abilities, excellent judgment, and strategic thinking skills.
- In-depth knowledge of liquidity management, funding markets, capital frameworks, and balance sheet oversight.
- Well-versed in regulatory requirements and risk management best practices.
- Proven capability to influence senior executive stakeholders.
- Commercially savvy with strong analytical skills.
- Collaborative leadership approach with dedication to continuous advancement.
- CFA qualification is a plus but not mandatory.
