Job description

Position Overview

The Group Communications Director leads the orchestration of both internal and external communication strategies to ensure cohesive, consistent messaging that aligns with the organization's core values and goals. This role oversees communication support provided by in-house PR and content teams as well as external agencies, contributing to profitable growth by underpinning distribution and customer experience through well-crafted communication initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Allocate and manage the talent and resources devoted to communication projects, ensuring their successful delivery.
  • Develop and implement annual and periodic strategic communication plans that align with corporate strategies, empowering teams with guidelines, templates, and delegation for execution.
  • Champion sustainability and CSR communication efforts in accordance with UN Global Compact (UNGC) requirements and advance organizational sustainability goals.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of the annual Sustainability report following Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.
  • Assess CSR programs against industry benchmarks, drive continuous improvement, and plan initiatives to maintain best-in-class standards.
  • Recruit and mentor communication team members, provide strategic leadership, define priorities, and oversee cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Regularly evaluate communication channels for effectiveness, fostering awareness and engagement, and report analysis findings to senior leadership.
  • Innovate by questioning current practices and introducing new, creative, and effective ways to elevate the company's brand and reputation.
  • Identify and promote timely, newsworthy stories that position the company as an industry thought leader and expand media and audience presence.
  • Cultivate meaningful internal and external relationships, enhancing content generation across media outlets and social platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure aligned communication throughout the organization.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Content production expertise.
  • Media communications proficiency.
  • Experience with social media engagement and management.
  • Report creation and presentation capabilities.
  • ERP system knowledge, preferably with SAP functional experience.

Experience

  • At least 12 years in senior strategic communications leadership roles.
  • A minimum of 5 years in managerial positions.
  • Preferably 2 or more years working in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
