Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Human Resources Manager to oversee HR functions within our Ethiopian operations. This role is pivotal in aligning human capital strategies with business goals by managing talent, employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with local labor laws. The position requires a dynamic individual capable of nurturing a positive, high-performing culture in a diverse work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with local leadership to integrate HR strategies with organizational objectives and operational demands.
- Guide organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and change initiatives.
- Design and implement strategies aimed at boosting employee engagement and retention.
- Contribute to the formulation of HR policies and promote the adoption of industry best practices.
- Oversee recruitment processes for professional and technical roles, ensuring effective sourcing and smooth onboarding experiences.
- Support succession planning and workforce development efforts.
- Handle employee relations issues such as grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict mediation.
- Maintain strict adherence to Ethiopian labor laws and monitor compliance continuously.
- Maintain constructive relationships with employees, stakeholders, and government agencies.
- Advise management on risk mitigation related to HR matters.
- Manage compensation and benefits programs consistent with market standards and company policies.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of employee records and documentation.
- Coordinate payroll inputs and support timely employee compensation.
- Generate HR reports to aid strategic decision-making.
- Administer all phases of employee lifecycle processes, including contracts and terminations.
- Oversee expatriate immigration matters such as visas, work permits, and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with authorities and service providers regarding employment and immigration concerns.
- Lead performance management cycles, including annual reviews and development plans.
- Identify and facilitate employee training and leadership development programs.
- Promote accountability and a culture of continuous performance enhancement.
Qualifications
- Holder of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Law, or a relevant discipline.
- Possesses a minimum of seven years’ progressive experience in HR with prior managerial exposure.
- In-depth understanding of Ethiopian labor legislation and contemporary HR methodologies.
- Proficiency in English at a C1 level, both written and spoken.
- Experience within mining, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, construction, or comparable complex operational sectors is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability managing expatriate staff and immigration processes is a significant plus.
- Experience operating in multicultural or international organizational settings.
- Strong leadership capabilities coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Willingness to participate in biweekly roster schedules.
