Groundperson - Line Clearance

About the Position

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a skilled Line Clearance Groundperson to join the team servicing Cuyahoga Falls, OH, with additional work locations including Hudson, OH. This full-time role involves providing essential ground support to utility line clearance crews, ensuring safety and efficiency during tree maintenance operations near utility lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist crew members by managing the lowering of ropes, limbs, and personnel from elevated positions.
• Provide and prepare tools necessary for tree workers during operations.
• Control and manage road and sidewalk traffic when required using proper warning devices and procedures.
• Carry out cutting, chipping, loading of brush and wood, and maintain a clean job site upon completion.

Qualifications

• Preferably possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Hold a valid driver's license; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred and may be mandated depending on job specifics.
• Possess any required certificates or licenses relevant to the work.
• A pesticide license is necessary if mandated by state regulations; an herbicide license is advantageous.
• Line clearance certification is essential for work conducted near utility transmission lines.
• ISA Certified Tree Worker credential or willingness to obtain certification.

Additional Information

• The position offers an hourly wage starting at $18.00, with compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
