Role Overview

As a Pet Stylist, you will apply your professional grooming skills, providing thorough services such as bathing, drying, styling, nail trimming, ear and gland cleaning while ensuring each pet’s safety and comfort. You will deliver outstanding customer experiences and may take on additional duties, including mentoring junior groomers when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform grooming services professionally, including baths, haircuts, styling, and cleaning, following owner instructions and breed standards.
• Use and maintain grooming tools like clippers, blades, and dryers effectively.
• Prioritize pet welfare by monitoring animals for signs of distress or health issues and communicating concerns to owners and management.
• Assess each pet’s grooming needs based on coat type, skin health, and temperament.
• Engage with pet parents courteously, offering expert advice, addressing their questions, and providing grooming recommendations.
• Keep the grooming area sanitized, clean tools daily and weekly, and adhere to hygiene protocols.
• Uphold company grooming standards and policies to maintain safety, quality, and consistency.
• Support and train beginner groomers as needed in the absence of leadership.

Qualifications

• Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or equivalent professional grooming experience/training.
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Make independent decisions to solve grooming challenges within a routine to moderately complex scope.
• Focused on productivity and ownership of grooming salon responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality grooming.
• Passion for animals and a commitment to a grooming career.
• Expertise in breed-specific grooming cuts and understanding of health and behavior.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with clients and team members.
• Ability to handle pets of various sizes and temperaments safely and empathetically.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Work Conditions

This role involves indoor salon work with physical requirements such as bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lbs, and standing for extended periods. The environment may be noisy and wet, and some tasks require use of ladders or equipment for cleaning and maintenance.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay ranges from $15.00 to $23.00, subject to applicable laws and varies by experience and location.
