Opportunity Overview

Begin your professional journey as a Data and AI Engineer with Datacom's Application Data and Analytics team in Auckland. This role offers a pathway to develop expertise at the intersection of data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and quality assurance.

About the Application Data and Analytics Team

This team manages the full spectrum of data and analytics solutions including new implementations, enhancements, ongoing support, and operational reliability. It supports clients in constructing and optimizing dependable, secure, and fit-for-purpose data platforms that bolster insights and decisions. As AI capabilities continue to grow, the team maintains the quality and accuracy of these innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced consultants and engineers with varied tasks on data and AI projects
  • Help validate data pipelines and reporting systems
  • Investigate and identify data defects and quality concerns
  • Learn and apply best practices in data engineering methodologies
  • Support cloud-based data solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud, data analysts, engineers, architects, and clients
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and automation
  • Enhance technical skills on current data and AI platforms

Candidate Profile

  • Recent or soon-to-be graduates in Data Science, Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Analytics, or related fields
  • Experience through internships, university projects, or research in AI, machine learning, analytics, or data platforms
  • A strong enthusiasm for data, technology, and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining quality standards
  • Quick learning capacity and collaborative team player

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud technologies and services like AWS Glue
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory
  • Proficiency in SQL and data engineering or ETL pipelines
  • Understanding of data quality principles and AI/machine learning projects
