Job description
Position Overview
This role is pivotal in fostering robust governance and supporting sound decision-making within the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. Collaborating closely with the General Counsel, Governance and Funding team, you will manage the comprehensive planning and coordination of Board and Committee functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of Board and Committee processes in a multifaceted, high-profile environment.
- Maintain governance systems, frameworks, and documentation to ensure efficient operation.
- Manage Board calendars, agendas, and produce precise and timely Board papers and meeting materials.
- Engage across various organizational levels to guarantee compliance with governance standards and deadlines.
- Serve as a critical liaison linking the Board, Executive Leadership Team, and broader organization.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve governance effectiveness and efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in overseeing governance programs and supporting Boards within complex organizations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of governance protocols, Board responsibilities, and regulatory requirements.
- Skilled in preparing and coordinating high-quality Board and Committee documents.
- Strong document, records, and information management capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfortable engaging and establishing trust with senior leadership stakeholders.
- Effective in managing ambiguity, shifting priorities, and stringent deadlines.
- Exemplary judgement, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and streamlining workflows.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experienced in governance management platforms such as Diligent.
- Preference for candidates with a Legal Executive qualification or relevant executive administration or business background.
- Willingness to enhance knowledge of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi as relevant to public sector operations.
