Gold Appraiser - Gold Loan

About the Role

AU Small Finance Bank Limited is looking for a detail-oriented and proficient individual to become part of its Operations and Services team, specifically handling the valuation and appraisal of gold assets for loan purposes. This role requires deep knowledge of gold appraisal methods, industry regulations, and market trends to ensure precise asset assessments for mitigating risks in lending.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough physical examinations and verifications of gold ornaments provided as collateral in loan applications.
• Evaluate the purity, weight, and current market value of gold using certified testing equipment and standardized procedures.
• Ensure strict adherence to statutory regulations and internal guidelines governing gold loan appraisals and related documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with loan processing teams to supply accurate and prompt appraisal reports aiding in loan approval and disbursal.
• Stay informed on market fluctuations, gold price trends, and prevailing standards to apply appropriate valuation criteria.
• Detect and report any irregularities, such as counterfeit or suspicious items, during the appraisal process to prevent fraud.
• Maintain precise records of each appraisal, including documentation, photographs, and test outcomes for audit and reference.
• Provide mentoring and training to junior personnel on appraisal techniques and compliance demands.
• Coordinate with outside authorities and assay laboratories when advanced testing or certifications are necessary.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of appraisal procedures to enhance accuracy and operational effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• Certification in gemology or precious metals appraisal is highly advantageous.
• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in gold appraisal, ideally within the banking or financial services sector focused on gold loans.

• Proficient in determining gold purity and karat measurement techniques.
• Experienced with electronic gold testing devices and market price evaluations.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance relevant to financial services and loan appraisal practices.

Additional Information

Reports to designated managers within the loan appraisal or operations department. The position is based onsite in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India at AU Small Finance Bank Limited.
