Gold Appraiser - Gold Loan

About the Role

AU Small Finance Bank Limited is looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable professional to join their Operations and Services team as a Gold Appraiser specializing in gold loans. This position requires expertise in assessing the value of gold assets accurately to assist with loan processing while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform detailed physical checks and verify the authenticity and purity of gold items submitted as collateral for loans.
• Assess gold market value by considering current rates, weight, and quality using standardized appraisal procedures.
• Stay abreast of market trends in gold pricing and relevant regulatory guidelines impacting gold loan processes.
• Compile comprehensive appraisal reports and maintain documentation for loan approval and auditing purposes.
• Work collaboratively with loan officers and operations teams to ensure smooth and compliant gold-loan processing.
• Detect and report inconsistencies or possible fraud regarding gold assets to the risk management team without delay.
• Ensure full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements tied to gold appraisal and loan disbursement.
• Provide training and guidance to junior staff on appraisal techniques and compliance standards to uphold quality service standards.
• Take part in regular audits and inspections by internal and external entities to verify appraisal accuracy and procedural integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline; certification in gemology or precious metals appraisal is highly advantageous.
• Preferably 3 to 5 years of practical experience in gold appraisal in the financial services or banking industry, especially with gold loan products.
