Job Summary

As a Gluer at Keilhauer, you are entrusted with applying glue accurately to assemble components like frames, wood, foam, and covers, following detailed product knowledge and work instructions. You will operate and maintain a glue spray booth safely and efficiently, adhering to company and safety protocols. This role emphasizes quality craftsmanship, teamwork, clear communication, and meeting production deadlines to produce finished furniture products that meet Keilhauer's standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and follow daily production schedules, work instructions, and diagrams to prepare and glue materials precisely according to specifications.
• Set up and safely operate the glue spray booth and glue guns, applying the correct amount of water-based adhesive for each product.
• Inspect glued products to ensure workmanship meets quality standards and order requirements, identifying and addressing defects.
• Manage time effectively, prioritize daily tasks, support team members, and assist new or temporary staff as needed.
• Adhere to all company and OHSA safety regulations, use personal protective equipment properly, maintain a clean workspace, and promptly report any equipment or safety issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is beneficial.
• Completion of high school or vocational/trade school training is considered an asset.
• Basic knowledge and safe use of hand tools are required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including handling materials of various shapes and weights, and wearing required protective equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and skills in reworking products are essential.

Physical and Cognitive Demands

• Must communicate effectively in English or American Sign Language and collaborate well with others.
• Capability to stand on concrete floors for long periods and move throughout large manufacturing areas; frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and stooping required.
• Strength and dexterity to lift items up to 45 kg with assistance, and skillfully use hand and power tools including operating the glue booth.
• Good visual acuity to inspect product quality and read instructions accurately.
• Cognitive ability to follow written and oral instructions, read safety and operational manuals, and learn new skills.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed entirely in the gluing area, frequently exposed to airborne particles and loud noise.
• Work may be required at different Keilhauer facilities and involve supporting other functional areas.
• Ability to multitask with minimal supervision and willingness to wear personal protective equipment such as ear plugs and safety shoes.
• Work under time pressure with a sense of urgency and participate in relevant training programs.
• Occasional overtime may be necessary to meet business demands.
• Compliance with company and OHSA safety practices and promoting a safe working environment is mandatory.

Compensation

This position is a Grade 3 role with an hourly starting wage ranging from $20.75 to $22.00 per hour.
