Job Overview
This role seeks an experienced GIS specialist to lead and architect enterprise Geographic Information System solutions with a focus on Esri ArcGIS technologies. The position involves the full project lifecycle from requirement gathering to ongoing operational support, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of critical GIS platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise GIS projects from inception through deployment and maintenance.
- Lead modernization and operational support for geospatial systems ensuring compliance with security and governance standards.
- Manage stakeholder communication and coordinate effectively with technical teams, senior management, vendors, and business partners.
- Deliver enterprise GIS solutions addressing architecture, data integration, cloud infrastructure, and automation needs.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields.
- At least five years’ experience in roles such as Technical Lead, GIS Solution Architect, or GIS Engineer focused on enterprise geospatial system design and operation.
- Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise components including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Data Store, Web Adaptor, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Online, and Pro.
- Experience supporting production GIS environments emphasizing high availability, security, backups, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of government-related security, compliance, risk assessments, and operational readiness practices.
- Technical expertise in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCC environments along with hybrid architectures.
- Familiarity with integration technologies including REST APIs, web services, SFTP, and identity and access management systems like SSO, IAM, and WOG AD.
- Database and geospatial data management skills with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle, spatial data models, metadata, and governance.
- Knowledge of GIS standards and formats such as feature/map services, WMS, WMTS, WFS, GeoJSON, and shapefiles.
- Capabilities in scripting and automation using Python, ArcPy, and geoprocessing workflows.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and stakeholder interaction.
