General Technician

Role Overview

This role involves responding promptly to guest maintenance requests and effectively communicating with guests to resolve issues. The technician will conduct preventive maintenance on various tools and equipment, including kitchen and mechanical room machinery, which involves cleaning and lubrication. Detailed visual inspections of tools and machinery are part of the duties, alongside managing maintenance supplies and requisitions.

Technical Duties

• Operate necessary equipment and locate all utility shut-off valves for buildings and equipment.
• Apply foundational knowledge or acquire skills in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, finish work, kitchen appliances, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building maintenance.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacements, ensuring a thorough cleanup after completion.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment including plumbing fixtures, electrical components, household devices, and guestroom items like TVs and internet devices.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout safety procedures before maintenance work.
• Assist with interior and exterior landscaping repairs, including irrigation systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills for scheduling air handlers and adjusting temperatures.

• Adhere to all company safety and security policies, complete required safety training, and responsibly manage hazardous materials.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance and protect confidential company information and assets.
• Provide courteous guest service, assist persons with disabilities, and comply with established quality standards.
• Collaborate positively with coworkers and respond constructively to their concerns.
• Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds unaided and heavier objects with assistance; able to work on stairs, ramps, ladders; perform bending, pulling, and reaching activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, painting; hotel engineering or maintenance experience advantageous.
