General Merchandise Associate

Position Overview

As a General Merchandise Associate at Walmart Canada, you will gain valuable experience in a fast-moving retail setting. Your primary role involves ensuring outstanding customer service by embodying Walmart's core values, keeping the sales floor orderly and customer-friendly, as well as supporting merchandising and sales operations related to general merchandise.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, assisting with product choices, promoting merchandise and services, locating items, aiding purchase decisions, and addressing or escalating customer issues.
• Maintain assigned areas on the sales floor and provide assistance at the Front End when necessary, ensuring consistent floor coverage through effective team communication.
• Perform zoning tasks to uphold a tidy and organized sales area, relocate featured products to designated displays, and process recovery items from Customer Service and other store areas.
• Manage stocking activities, including picking merchandise, completing downstocking duties, applying product protection as required, and organizing shelving units such as flex modulars and new shelf caps.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and hazard-free workplace by adhering to company policies, completing safety logs, and securing display fixtures.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational needs.

Challenges in this Role

• Handle a high workload in a dynamic environment, particularly during overnight hours, by planning to maintain energy and focus throughout shifts.
• Complete restocking and recovery tasks efficiently and accurately under time constraints.
• Meet physical requirements such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting items up to 20 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally, as well as performing repetitive organizational duties with consistent attention to detail.
