General Merchandise Associate

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Provide warm, professional customer service by greeting shoppers, guiding product choices, highlighting promotions, assisting in locating merchandise, supporting buying decisions, and addressing or redirecting customer concerns.
• Manage coverage of designated sales floor sections and step in front-end duties as needed, coordinating with team members to ensure comprehensive floor presence and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain merchandising standards through zoning activities, ensuring the sales floor remains clean and organized. Responsible for relocating featured merchandise appropriately and managing recovery stock from customer service and other in-store areas.
• Handle stocking duties including shelving products, downstocking when necessary, applying protective measures to merchandise, and setting up modular displays such as flex sections and new shelf caps.
• Promote a safe and clean workplace by adhering to company policies, completing safety inspections, and securing displays and fixtures to prevent hazards.
• Adapt to varied work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support continuous store operations and excellent customer experiences.

Challenges Associated with the Role

• Manage a high workload in a fast-moving environment, particularly during overnight shifts, effectively organizing time to remain alert and productive.
• Maintain physical stamina for tasks requiring extended standing, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment up to 50 lbs, along with repetitive activities like stocking and zoning with focus and consistency.

Compensation and Location

The starting wage for this full-time position is $16.15 per hour. The role is based in Calgary, Alberta, at 100-310 Shawville Blvd SE, T2Y 3S4.
