General Merchandise Associate

Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a General Merchandise Associate offers a valuable chance to develop key skills within a bustling retail environment. The role focuses on delivering outstanding customer experiences while supporting the upkeep and organization of the sales floor and assisting sales and stocking tasks in the general merchandise section.

Key Duties

• Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers by greeting them, helping select and locate products, promoting offerings, supporting purchase decisions, and managing or directing any customer concerns.
• Ensure sales floor areas are covered appropriately and support Front End operations as needed, coordinating with team members to maintain consistent customer service.
• Maintain assigned zones by organizing merchandise, relocating featured products, and managing returns or recovered items from Customer Service and other store areas.
• Stock shelves, perform picking and downstocking tasks, apply product protection when necessary, and assemble modular displays, including flexible modulars and new shelving caps.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures to keep work areas secure, clean, and free from hazards, completing safety logs and ensuring fixtures are stable.
• Demonstrate flexibility by being available for a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support store operations and continuous quality service.

Challenges in this Role

• Effectively manage a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment, especially during overnight shifts, by organizing workload and maintaining focus and energy.
• Perform physically demanding activities such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Engage in repetitive tasks like stocking, zoning, and organizing merchandise while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring store standards.

Compensation

The starting pay for this position is $16.15 per hour.
