Job description

Position Overview

Join as a General Merchandise Assistant Manager supporting the Store Manager in overseeing store operations in alignment with company policies. Lead store associates to deliver courteous service and drive profitable sales results.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a Store Management Team member to achieve sales and profit goals by managing budgets, forecasting sales, analyzing financial reports, economic conditions, and local market trends to adapt to changes while managing expenses effectively.
  • Collaborate with management to develop operational plans, assign priorities, delegate tasks, and clearly direct managers and associates. Maintain excellent store conditions through attractive merchandise presentation, correct pricing, and adherence to company standards. Implement new store programs and assess their success specifically in designated areas such as Front End, Back End, Fresh, or Operations. Be cross-trained to competently manage all store areas as needed.
  • Oversee asset protection and safety controls, uphold quality assurance, conduct safety and operational reviews, and ensure compliance with Walmart policies, including safety, security, sales, financial management, and record-keeping. Proactively address compliance concerns and loss prevention.
  • Act as a store ambassador by engaging customers, gathering feedback, resolving issues to ensure a positive shopping experience, and guide associates on friendly and effective customer service techniques.
  • Support community involvement through participation in events and building relationships with local groups. Engage in company programs promoting sustainability and community ties.
  • Lead associates by facilitating regular meetings, communicating direction and initiatives, focusing on OMNI and Total Store objectives. Foster associate engagement, recognize achievements, and provide professional development opportunities. Identify and develop high-potential team members.
  • Embody company values by providing timely and respectful performance feedback, managing disciplinary actions as appropriate. Cultivate relationships with district and store support functions like HR.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards for handling merchandise, including regulated items such as alcohol and ammunition. Manage cash controls effectively for amounts up to $250,000 daily.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $56,100 to $66,642.50 annually, with pay dependent on relevant experience.
