Role Overview
A client is searching for a General Manager responsible for crafting and executing the global corporate strategy to drive growth, achieve financial targets, and uphold operational excellence. This role demands expertise in two key sectors: maritime shipping and global logistics supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction and oversee profit and loss performance, ensuring alignment with the Board's objectives.
- Manage and improve operational costs and gross margins.
- Explore and develop new growth prospects in both local and international markets.
- Supervise maritime operations including charter contracts, fleet and container assignments, and compliance with international maritime regulations.
- Negotiate agreements with shipowners, port authorities, and maritime brokers.
- Direct all aspects of supply chain management from inbound and outbound cargo to multimodal transportation.
- Manage warehouse operations, inventory control, and distribution networks.
- Ensure adherence to customs and regulatory standards for all international shipments.
- Lead and develop cross-functional leadership teams spanning shipping, logistics, commercial activities, and finance.
- Promote a culture emphasizing high performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Supply Chain, International Transport, or Engineering.
- Brings at least 10 years of significant managerial experience in relevant sectors such as shipowning companies, international freight forwarding, or large shipping organizations.
- Technical knowledge includes a deep understanding of Incoterms, maritime legal frameworks, freight pricing models, and expertise in ERP, WMS, and TMS systems.
- Demonstrates strategic leadership capabilities, adeptness in high-level negotiations, broad economic insight, and sound judgment in demanding or crisis conditions.
