About the Opportunity
Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour is looking for an outstanding, commercially astute General Manager to lead this prestigious waterfront luxury hotel in New Zealand. This role offers a unique chance to enhance the hotel's value, optimize operations, and lead financial excellence by combining Sofitel’s renowned French luxury style with effective business strategies. The successful candidate will elevate guest experiences and achieve superior financial returns for owners and Accor.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a highly visible, charismatic brand ambassador for Sofitel and Accor, fostering strong relationships with VIP guests, corporate clients, and Auckland's business community.
- Build, mentor, and retain a top-tier leadership team while promoting a commercial mindset that aligns operational excellence with guest loyalty and profitability.
- Take full accountability for the hotel's profit and loss to maximize profits, improve operational margins, and consistently exceed financial goals through disciplined cost control and strategic resources allocation.
- Collaborate with Revenue, Sales, and Marketing to implement aggressive yield management tactics aimed at increasing Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR), Average Daily Rate (ADR), and market share.
- Develop and maintain transparent, collaborative relationships with property owners, advising on strategic capital expenditure plans that enhance asset valuation with measurable returns on investment.
- Drive the brand repositioning by upholding Sofitel's global luxury standards and establishing the hotel as Auckland’s leading choice for affluent leisure travelers, corporate clients, and exclusive events.
- Lead initiatives to improve guest satisfaction and luxury standards compliance, ensuring consistent brand loyalty and pricing strength.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven leadership experience in luxury hotel management, with an impressive record as a General Manager or senior hotel executive delivering strong financial outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing hotel refurbishments, asset transformations, or property repositioning projects from inception through profitable completion.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hotel financials, including accounting, revenue and yield management, luxury market distribution, ownership, and investment business models.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities to effectively engage and align diverse stakeholders such as high-level owners, corporate executives, and VIP partners.
- Leadership style focused on people, combining emotional intelligence with accountability to build a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and superior performance.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with agility to lead in a competitive, fast-evolving corporate and leisure market, innovating revenue streams across food & beverage, wellness, and events.
