ITASCA Australia seeks a proactive and outcome-oriented General Manager to oversee its Australian consulting operations. As part of ITASCA International, ITASCA Australia offers expert consultancy in geomechanics and hydrogeology primarily serving the mining and civil infrastructure sectors both domestically and internationally. The General Manager is accountable for all aspects of the Australian office, including financial performance, business growth, and personnel management, and collaborates with global ITASCA units to deliver superior client value. Reporting directly to the CEO of ITASCA International, this role is pivotal in shaping the company's success.

Significance of the Position

Understanding geological, geomechanical, and hydrogeological factors is essential in determining the viability and progression of mining, infrastructure, and energy projects. ITASCA delivers premium consultancy services that enable clients to pursue such initiatives safely and sustainably, considering financial and environmental aspects. The General Manager will be instrumental in expanding ITASCA Australia's presence, fostering strong client partnerships, mentoring employees, leading project teams, and integrating ITASCA's expertise across geomechanics, hydrogeology, engineering geology, and numerical modelling to devise comprehensive client solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full operation of ITASCA Australia’s consulting division, managing financial outcomes including profit and loss, cultivating business development, and overseeing staff.
• Mentor and support team members, ensuring high-quality delivery through guidance, reviews, and knowledge transfer.
• Utilise industry expertise and networks to secure new business opportunities while sustaining exemplary service for existing clients in sectors such as geomechanics, hydrogeology, and engineering geology.
• Promote and maintain a positive, collaborative company culture that encourages inter-office synergy across ITASCA's global network.
• Provide principal technical leadership in geomechanics, rock engineering, and/or hydrogeology, including performing technical work as required.
• Represent ITASCA Australia at industry conferences, events, and workshops to elevate the company’s profile.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate degree (M.Sc. or higher) in rock engineering, geomechanics, engineering geology, or a closely related discipline pertinent to ITASCA Australia’s expertise; formal business leadership training is a significant advantage.
• At least 15 years of professional experience in mining or consulting aligned with ITASCA’s core fields.
• Proven leadership capabilities including team development, coaching, and excellent interpersonal communication; experience managing staff through change processes.
• Exceptional technical proficiency and leadership demonstrated in rock engineering.
• Successful track record in business development, including landing major contracts, forming strategic partnerships, and nurturing client relationships.
• Consulting project management experience encompassing both technical responsibilities and financial oversight.
• Documented history of continuous professional growth.
• Registration as a professional engineer within Australia.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency is mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

Additional Details
