About the Role

Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation (NTHC), a significant New Zealand-focused commercial investment entity managing diversified assets worth around $2 billion across sectors like tourism, property, farming, forestry, seafood, and investments, seeks a General Manager of Finance based in Christchurch (Ōtautahi). Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate Services, this executive role includes leading a finance leadership team of seven direct reports within a total finance department of over 25 professionals.

As a vital strategic advisor, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with business divisions, the Executive team, and the Board Audit & Risk Committee, actively shaping organizational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Steer strategic business planning, budgeting, and long-term financial forecasting across all NTHC divisions.
  • Manage treasury and banking relationships, and direct debt and refinancing approaches.
  • Enhance the organization's financial and commercial capabilities, including the development of robust business cases to underpin quality investment choices.
  • Oversee financial reporting, statutory compliance, and external audits, liaising with the Executive and Board Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to business areas and executive leadership.
  • Drive advancement of finance systems, data analytics, reporting, and digital capabilities, adopting emerging technologies and AI to improve decisions and performance.
  • Develop leadership skills within the finance team, promoting a culture marked by accountability, collaboration, commercial acumen, and continuous learning.

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive senior finance leadership experience at roles such as CFO, General Manager Finance, or comparable executive level.
  • Holds a professional finance qualification such as CA, CPA, or CIMA.
  • Proven ability to lead and elevate teams through effective coaching and constructive challenge.
  • Capable of influencing strategic decisions via insightful financial analysis, sound commercial judgment, and thoughtful challenge.
