General Manager

Position Overview

The General Manager oversees all facets of hotel operations, combining leadership of daily staff activities with maintaining excellent guest relations. Acting as a representative of both the hotel brand and property, this role offers guidance and strategic direction across all departments to ensure superior service standards, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Collaboration with hotel owners and stakeholders is critical.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage hotel operations in accordance with organizational structure and standards.
• Hold regular meetings and updates with department heads to coordinate efforts.
• Ensure adherence to operational policies, procedures, and service protocols.
• Lead important projects such as capital investments, service upgrades, and renovation efforts.
• Handle guest concerns and enforce effective resolution strategies.
• Develop, present, and meet goals within the annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan, and Capital Budget.
• Drive profitability while maintaining or exceeding guest satisfaction targets.
• Make strategic decisions benefiting the hotel and its stakeholders.
• Formulate and track short- and long-term strategic plans and financial objectives.
• Identify and apply cost-saving measures and operational enhancements.
• Analyze profit and loss reports to guide decision-making.
• Review daily operational reports for informed management choices.
• Ensure monthly financial forecasts for departmental areas align with targets.
• Optimize room revenue through innovative sales and yield management techniques.
• Prepare monthly financial summaries for ownership and stakeholders.
• Engage in budget creation and overall financial planning.
• Support procurement activities for supplies, equipment, and vendor services.
• Function as the ultimate hiring authority for key positions.
• Collaborate closely with department leaders to implement effective operations.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

The successful candidate will be an experienced, pragmatic, and astute professional in hotel management, exhibiting exceptional leadership qualities. Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings is essential.

Educational Background

A university degree in Hotel Management or a closely related discipline is required. Prior experience managing hotel openings, repositioning, or leading hotels with a consistent record of strong performance is highly desirable. Proficiency with hotel management systems is mandatory.

Experience

• Between 15 and 20 years of hospitality industry experience, including extensive exposure to luxury and international markets.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years in high-level leadership roles such as General Manager or Deputy General Manager, preferably within remote or destination properties.
