About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead as General Manager for Value Tyres Limited, a well-established tyre wholesaler headquartered in Christchurch, New Zealand’s fastest growing city. The role demands comprehensive operational leadership responsibility including executing business strategy, managing senior leadership, and overseeing operational performance and risk management within a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the senior leadership team consisting of four department heads.
- Design and maintain an integrated and effective operating model across various divisions.
- Oversee succession planning throughout the leadership hierarchy to ensure leadership continuity.
- Develop and sustain relationships with senior external stakeholders including suppliers and customers.
- Drive the business performance management using KPIs, dashboards, and systematic reviews.
- Lead the annual business planning and budgeting activities with the senior leadership team and track business results against financial targets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, administrative, and operational requirements, identifying and managing business risks effectively, including maintaining appropriate insurance coverage.
- Champion a safe and healthy workplace environment by promoting compliance with relevant policies and standards.

Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or multifunctional operations through an engaged senior leadership team.
- Proven ability to align multiple functions and hold leaders accountable for delivering results.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance service delivery, margin, cost control, working capital, and growth objectives.
- Experienced in leading annual planning and budgeting cycles and adept at managing performance and implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Capable of acquiring sufficient operational knowledge across diverse areas to provide valuable input without micromanaging.
- Pragmatic and decisive problem solver who makes timely, well-justified decisions.
- Highly organized and resilient, able to prioritize and maintain operational rhythm amidst change, ambiguity, and peak workload periods.
- Must hold full, unrestricted working rights in New Zealand and be based in or willing to relocate to Christchurch.
