Overview

Seeking a seasoned General Ledger Unit Manager to lead all general ledger functions ensuring precise, timely, and reliable financial information. This role is accountable for overseeing monthly and yearly financial closures, adhering to IFRS/GAAP standards, and guiding a team of accountants to produce superior financial statements. The position also emphasizes enhancing internal controls, process optimization, and cross-department collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger, guaranteeing accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Evaluate journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and prepaid expenses prepared by the team for accuracy.
  • Ensure balance sheet integrity by promptly addressing discrepancies.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities to meet established deadlines.
  • Analyze trial balances, variances, and supporting documentation for management reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements compliant with IFRS/GAAP and company policies.
  • Develop and uphold robust internal controls and clear accounting guidelines.
  • Maintain adherence to local regulations, company policies, and governance standards.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, supplying required documentation and assistance.
  • Promote automation and process efficiency within general ledger operations and reporting.
  • Work with IT and finance departments to enhance ERP systems and integration workflows.
  • Recommend improvements to streamline closing cycles and increase data accuracy.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop general ledger accountants to achieve high performance standards.
  • Assign workloads, monitor progress, and provide professional training and support.
  • Cultivate a finance team culture based on accountability, ongoing improvement, and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years practical accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity within general ledger functions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IFRS/GAAP, financial reporting methodologies, and closing processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite, alongside advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Preference given to individuals with backgrounds in multinational or shared service company environments.
