About the Role
We offer an excellent opportunity for a General Building Operative to join the team on-site at HMP Long Lartin. The role involves guaranteed hours of 39 per week, including weekend shifts on a one-in-three rotation, with a special 15% allowance on the base salary for weekend work. The annual salary is £28,792.
Job Functions
- Perform general maintenance duties and assist tradespeople as part of a team.
- Deliver professional support including escorting contractors when necessary.
- Handle DIY-related tasks like decorating, installing notice boards, furniture assembly, and repairs around the prison.
- Inspect and report the condition of appliances, fixtures, and the environment to the Team Leader.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of grounds, including litter collection and landscaping as needed.
- Carry out additional facilities management duties as directed by the team manager.
- Contribute to local and corporate zero carbon initiatives strategically and efficiently.
- Uphold health and safety standards throughout the contract term.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in general building maintenance and DIY projects.
- Certified with appropriate CITB or equivalent qualifications.
- Motivated to acquire new skills continuously.
- Capable of effective teamwork in a dynamic environment.
