Gemologist

About the Role

We are seeking qualified Gemologists or Diamond Graders for our Surat location on A.K. Road. The ideal candidates possess a minimum of 1 year professional experience and hold at least a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), preferably with relevant laboratory experience or certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Precisely evaluate polished diamonds following industry grading standards, focusing on the 4Cs: carat weight, cut, color, and clarity, alongside an overall assessment of diamond attributes.
• Operate advanced diamond grading tools and software for accurate diamond inspection and measurement.
• Adhere strictly to company procedures and industry guidelines to maintain consistent grading accuracy and quality.
• Engage in quality control activities ensuring precision in grading processes.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to detect and resolve grading discrepancies.
• Keep up-to-date with trends, methods, and innovations in diamond grading.
• Work in close cooperation with fellow gemologists and grading experts to maintain uniform grading standards.

Requirements

• At least 2 years’ practical experience in diamond grading at a reputed laboratory or over 5 years’ experience in diamond grading within prominent diamond manufacturing firms.
• Comprehensive understanding of the 4Cs—cut, carat weight, color, and clarity.
• Certification from a recognized diamond grading course or laboratory.
• Ability to independently determine clarity, polish, and symmetry of diamonds.
• Experience with diamond inclusion plotting is essential.
• Experience working in a GIA lab is a desirable advantage.

Educational Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).
• Basic proficiency in computer usage.

Additional Information

Retention Policy: 10% of the monthly salary will be withheld monthly over 2 years as retention. Upon completing the 2-year period, the withheld amount will be returned with an additional 5% interest.
