Job Details
As a Gas Meter Reader, you will safely navigate properties to locate gas meters, avoiding hazards and updating hazard information for future readers. You'll be responsible for identifying and reporting gas meter leaks, damaged or vandalized meters, unsafe installations, tampering, and addressing inaccuracies. Your duties include entering properties to read meters and ensuring they are left undisturbed, maintaining professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with the public, and wearing supplied personal protective equipment while upholding a high standard of personal presentation.
You will accurately record gas meter readings on behalf of gas retailers and complete daily contracted responsibilities. Some routes require driving onto sites, including busy roads and highways. Work usually begins between 7am and 8am, or 6:30am on hot days (above 35 degrees Celsius), with all completed work uploaded by 4:30pm after route completion.

Candidate Profile
No prior experience is needed as full training is given. Having experience in physically demanding roles or being accustomed to standing long periods will be advantageous.
Role Purpose
The Gas Meter Reader's core responsibility is to read electric, gas, or water meters accurately, log consumption, inspect meters and connections for defects, and report any irregularities.

Work Environment and Conditions
- Hourly wage of $34.14
