Job description
Overview
The FX Trader role entails managing a trading book and its associated risks in collaboration with the trading team. The primary goal is to ensure that trades meet expected revenue targets while fostering development and coordination across various teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a trading book to generate revenues and control risk for the business segment.
- Collaborate extensively with Sales, Research, Markets and Securities Services, and other business units.
- Execute trades to achieve assigned revenue goals while actively managing the risks of the trading book.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships to facilitate trade execution and business growth.
- Predict client demand within specific products or markets proactively.
- Work with desk analysts and sales to expand the trading franchise effectively.
- Ensure strong governance by partnering with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Finance functions.
- Promote a culture valuing responsible finance, stringent governance, ethical conduct, and prudent expense management.
- Evaluate risk versus reward carefully when making business decisions, safeguarding firm reputation.
- Adhere fully to Citi’s Code of Conduct, Global Markets and Securities Services supervision plans, and all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain all necessary registrations and licenses within defined timelines.
- Remain vigilant in compliance and risk management by following applicable laws, policies, and ethical standards, reporting issues transparently.
Candidate Qualifications
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in trading or related finance roles.
- Sound understanding of foreign exchange products and client needs.
- Required regulatory licenses and registrations pertinent to role.
- High proficiency in quantitative analysis and numerical skills.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, able to express complex information clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to nurture relationships internally and with clients.
- Competence in evaluating trade scenarios and identifying appropriate counterparties.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg terminals, trade booking systems, trading protocols, and settlement procedures.
Educational Background
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or closely related fields.
