Role Purpose
The GM Sales and Trading Assistant (SATA) supports the front office by managing daily operational tasks such as accurate deal capturing, lifecycle event handling, control activities, and post-trade services. The role demands initiative, adaptability, precision, solid communication, and a commitment to assist within a high-paced front office setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operations across the Asia Pacific region including Australia time zones.
- Manually capture deals in front office systems and verify against documentation.
- Amend or cancel option trades for sales and trading desks.
- Process amendments or cancellations of spot, forward, and swap trades for trading and sales teams.
- Maintain segregation of duties by not engaging in quoting prices, client order taking, individual dealing, or unauthorized entry of deals.
- Promptly escalate any identified issues or suspected fraud to management.
- Assist with local regulatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in projects including portfolio migration or closure, new workflow implementations, system testing, and procedure updates.
- Manage option exercise and expiry events within the Asia time zone, including client confirmation and missed expiry checks.
- Execute barrier options as directed, confirm client barriers, and conduct missed barrier reviews.
- Notify clients of option exercises or barrier triggers.
- Ensure Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDFs) are fixed correctly and timely.
- Update official fixing rates for schedules within front office systems.
- Validate daily spot closing rates and manage associated profit/loss calculations for the Singapore spot desk.
- Coordinate setup of new trading portfolios and counterparty codes in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Distribute trade recaps and term sheets to clients and resolve any discrepancies in collaboration with client support and operations.
- Perform reconciliation checks as per global procedural standards and escalate discrepancies appropriately.
- Contribute to business continuity planning and comply with internal and external audit recommendations.
- Engage in IT projects and market initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison point for internal departments including market risk, collateral, credit, back office, middle office, and IT when needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Banking is required.
- Between 3 to 7 years of experience in FX-related roles, preferably in middle-office or front-office assistant positions.
- Strong understanding of FX and FX Options products.
- Good grasp of market conventions, transaction workflows, and lifecycle processes to promote smooth operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Capability to handle high-pressure, fast-paced environments effectively.
- Ability to work autonomously while also being a dependable team player.
- Keen attention to detail paired with robust problem-solving abilities.
- Risk awareness and understanding its impact on front office and operational risk.
- Technical skills such as programming (VBA, Python) are an advantage.
- Familiarity with BNP Paribas systems is beneficial.
- Willingness to work during Singapore public holidays.
