Team Overview

The Payments division develops products and platforms that simplify payment acceptance for customers, including payment processing APIs, regional payment options, and in-person payment solutions. The Risk Engineering team designs tools to reduce financial and regulatory risks, balancing protection of Stripe's brand and financial stability with seamless user experience. Within this organization, the Premium Merchant Experiences team based in Dublin is creating a new product that combines AI-driven automated support with enhanced access to technical experts. The Supportability Decisions team tackles difficult risk challenges by building technologies that discriminate genuine businesses from fraudulent actors using engineering and AI-assisted investigations. The Payments Intelligence team focuses on maximizing payment success rates, cost efficiency, and fraud management across various merchant payment methods by developing products such as Radar, Authorization Boost, and Authentication.

Role Responsibilities

• End-to-end problem-solving across multiple systems, processes, and technologies.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and product managers to develop new features and products.
• Maintain high engineering standards and provide consistency across various codebases and workflows.
• Create well-designed APIs and user experiences that enable merchants to expand and operate their businesses effectively on Stripe.
• Contribute to designing and architecting future Stripe infrastructure to accommodate sustained company and customer growth.

Candidate Profile

Minimum qualifications:

• Between 2 to 12+ years of professional software engineering experience (excluding internships and co-ops).
• Proficient across the technology stack with ability to navigate and work in diverse programming environments.
• Comfortable delivering both user-facing features and performing custom data queries for experimentation analysis.
• Strong programming ability in any language; openness to learning new languages as needed.
• Excellent teamwork skills with capacity to collaborate across multiple workflows and support colleagues’ success.
• Self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with capability to work autonomously and manage responsibilities effectively.
• Generalist approach toward solving problems using multiple technologies to enhance experiences for internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in rapidly growing technology teams similar to Stripe’s environment.
• Background building financial systems or tools tailored for finance professionals.

In-Office Attendance

This role requires generally spending at least 50% of working time onsite at the local office in Dublin, Ireland, though expectations may vary by team. Some teams, including those based in Stripe delivery centers, work fully onsite. Attendance policies aim to encourage in-person collaboration and shared learning while allowing for flexibility where suitable.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary for this position in Dublin ranges between €85,000 and €127,600 and may be adjusted for other locations. The range reflects multiple career levels and will be refined according to experience, qualifications, and location during hiring. Additional compensation components may include equity, bonuses, retirement plans, health coverage, and wellness stipends, varying by applicant location.
