Job Summary

This position involves maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of buildings through extensive cleaning activities. Tasks include floor maintenance, carpet shampooing, washing walls and glass surfaces, and proper waste disposal, all aimed at ensuring a safe and sanitized environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of rubbish adhering to approved procedures and infection control protocols.
• Dust and damp mop floors following prescribed methods.
• Relocate equipment and furniture to facilitate cleaning, then correctly reposition them.
• Perform cleaning duties in assigned areas using designated materials and equipment, sanitizing all surfaces according to an eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other fixtures to maintain a clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Proactively identify and address areas requiring cleaning.
• Complete all tasks as directed by supervisors.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local guidelines during task performance.
• Strip, scrub, buff, refinish floors, and shampoo carpets as needed.
• Collaborate within the team and demonstrate professionalism toward customers and colleagues.
• Fulfill any other duties assigned.

Schedule and Location

The role is full-time, from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, primarily located at Murray State University, 101 MSU Drive, Hopkinsville, KY 42240. Opportunities exist at other locations within the school district. Flexibility in scheduling is available to meet various needs. The position is classified as remote for the purpose of application but involves onsite work.

Requirements

• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial roles is preferred.
