Full-Time Assistant Manager

About the Role

At Hot Topic, we pride ourselves on a passion for music, pop culture, and delivering an exceptional in-store experience for both customers and staff. We are seeking a Full-Time Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in guiding the liveliest store in the mall. This role requires balancing multiple responsibilities, from boosting sales to fostering lasting customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in meeting sales targets and overall store objectives.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a passionate, collaborative team to efficiently run the store alongside you.
• Generate excitement and engage customers by promoting new products, leveraging social media platforms, and utilizing services like BOPIS and curbside pickup.
• Lead operations management with a balanced focus on delegation, autonomy, and customer-focused selling practices.
• Monitor shrinkage prevention, manage payroll hours, and oversee employee schedules.
• Communicate effectively with retail leadership and headquarters partners regarding market trends and customer feedback.
• Analyze sales data to inform strategies aimed at achieving sales goals.
• Merchandise the store attractively according to planograms and ensure timely launch of all promotions.
• Work closely with the Store Manager to build a loyal, high-performing, customer-oriented team.

Qualifications & Skills

• A minimum of 1-2 years experience managing a retail store; enthusiasm for music and pop culture is highly valued.
• Proven ability to lead teams successfully, demonstrating skills in communication, recruitment, operations (including payroll, reporting, scheduling, merchandising), and talent development.
• Strong interpersonal skills including time management, professionalism, and a passion for developing team members.
• Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED; a higher degree is advantageous.
• Ability to adapt quickly within a fast-changing retail environment.
• Capability to perform standard retail duties such as maneuvering around the store, merchandising products with approved equipment, and handling merchandise boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
