Full Stack Developer with Backend Focus

About the Role

Elham Al-Mustaqbal for IT is seeking a proficient Full Stack Developer with a strong emphasis on backend engineering and the capability to assist in frontend development. This remote part-time position entails working 8 hours daily, 6 days a week, with a monthly remuneration ranging between USD 700 and 800, adjusted according to experience and skill level.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain reliable APIs, database schemas, and real-time functionalities.
• Collaborate on frontend development utilizing React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.
• Identify and resolve issues, author effective tests, and engage in version control workflows with Git and GitHub.
• Assume accountability for timely deliveries, communicate effectively, manage priorities, and uphold excellence and deadlines.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS for frontend development.
• Experience with backend frameworks NestJS and/or Express.js.
• Competency with Socket.IO for enabling real-time communications and updates.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL databases and Prisma ORM.
• Understanding and practical application of Clean Architecture principles appropriate to project scope.
• Experience with collaborative code management using Git and GitHub.
• Practical experience using Docker and comprehension of CI/CD processes.
• Analytical aptitude and strong debugging capabilities.
• Ability to effectively utilize AI tools like Codex and Claude, including providing accurate guidance, testing outputs, and taking ownership of the resultant code.

API Documentation Requirement

Demonstrated expertise in OpenAPI specification with Swagger or Scalar is mandatory. Documentation must be comprehensive, covering authentication mechanisms, parameter definitions, request and response schemas, status codes, error handling, and usage examples, ensuring alignment with actual implementation.

Application Technical Challenge

Applicants must complete and submit a technical challenge consisting of building a small appointment booking API supporting fixed time slots. The API must be built with TypeScript using NestJS or Express frameworks, backed by PostgreSQL and Prisma. Functionalities include listing available slots (populated via seed data), creating and canceling bookings, preventing double bookings under concurrent requests, making canceled slots available again, validating inputs, handling errors clearly, implementing simple Socket.IO updates, crafting accurate OpenAPI documentation, and writing tests verifying successful bookings, conflict prevention during concurrency, and slot availability after cancellations.

The challenge is expected to take about 2 to 3 hours and does not require frontend interfaces, authentication systems, payment processing, cloud deployment, or CI/CD configurations. Applicants should report the actual time spent and note any incomplete features.

The submission must be a ZIP file containing source code, Prisma schema, migrations, seed data, tests, a README file with setup and testing instructions, OpenAPI documentation access details, and a .env.example file without sensitive data. Do not include node_modules or any secrets.

A brief explanation covering the concurrency conflict prevention strategy, major decisions, potential areas for improvement, and a disclosure of AI tool usage must accompany the submission. Candidates must understand their code fully to discuss it and perform minor adjustments during an interview.
