About the Role

We are seeking a Fraud Detection and Intelligence Lead to join our Technical Claims team in Auckland. This role focuses on driving an intelligence-led approach to fraud risk management by identifying emerging threats, uncovering organized fraud schemes, and providing valuable insights that protect both the organization and its customers.

The successful candidate will work with diverse data sources, converting complex information into actionable intelligence, and spearheading the development of innovative detection strategies, analytical tools, and intelligence solutions to enhance fraud prevention and investigations. Close collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and industry peers will be essential to strengthen fraud controls, influence decision-making, and continuously improve the organization's capabilities.

Leading and nurturing a talented team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ongoing development, while ensuring governance and compliance in intelligence practices will be key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to identify new fraud threats, detect trends and patterns, and convert intelligence into protective actions for customers and the business.
  • Develop and enhance fraud intelligence capabilities through innovative detection methods, analytical tools, and intelligence-driven solutions.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that support fraud risk management and business decisions.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships across the company, industry peers, and technology providers to enhance intelligence sharing and improve fraud outcomes.
  • Drive ongoing improvements in intelligence systems, processes, and practices to provide timely, accurate, and reliable information.
  • Promote an intelligence-led culture by implementing educational initiatives and knowledge sharing that raise fraud awareness and build organizational capability.
  • Contribute significantly to executing the Fraud & Intelligence strategy, maintaining an edge over evolving fraud challenges.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a work environment that empowers innovation and excellence.
  • Ensure all intelligence activities adhere to strong governance, compliance standards, and support health, safety, and wellbeing commitments.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated expertise in fraud intelligence, investigations, and management of insurance claims.
  • Strong analytical skills alongside process improvement experience.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, facilitation, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in handling intelligence management, investigation processes, and fraud analytics systems.
