Forward Deployed Engineering Manager, GenAI (Mandarin & English)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineering Manager specializing in Generative AI to lead a team intersecting cutting-edge AI solutions with practical customer deployments. This role is based in Singapore and demands fluency in both Mandarin and English to engage with China-go-Global clients effectively. The ideal candidate will spearhead a group of AI/ML engineers who co-develop customized agentic AI applications directly within client infrastructures. As a team leader, you will bridge strategic directions from product and sales leadership with hands-on technical problem-solving, particularly focused on production challenges like data readiness, integration complexities, and advanced state management.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish technical leadership by defining coding standards, architectural best practices, and benchmarks to uplift team performance.
• Collaborate with business and technology leaders to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities, deploying specialized experts such as MLOps or GenMedia professionals to critical client accounts.
• Oversee technical recruitment for forward deployed engineers, evaluating candidates’ expertise in AI/ML, systems engineering, and software development.
• Continuously identify and close knowledge gaps regarding emerging AI technologies, including Model Context Protocols and foundation models, to maintain team expertise.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to remove bottlenecks, translate customer insights into product roadmaps, and develop internal tools that enhance operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum eight years in cloud computing or technical client-facing roles with at least two years managing engineering teams focused on software or forward deployed engineering in cloud environments.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing AI/GenAI solutions, including multi-agent workflows and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Track record of leading full-cycle AI solution delivery, from ideation through launch, including technical engagements with China-go-Global customers.
• Fluency in Mandarin and English to manage business communications with China-based clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in AI, Computer Science, or related technical fields.
• Expertise in designing user-friendly interfaces for complex AI systems focusing on context, transparency, and explainability to build user trust.
• Experience architecting AI solutions within secure infrastructures addressing data sovereignty and governance requirements.
• Strong skills for conducting in-depth discovery interviews to identify core business challenges and translating complex AI or hardware constraints for both executive and technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with designing secure, observable multi-agent AI systems leveraging advanced design patterns such as ReAct and self-reflection with robust state management.
