Position Summary

We seek an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer specializing in Agentic AI to join our Innovation team. This position involves embedding within client enterprises remotely, with occasional onsite visits as needed. Reporting to the VP of Innovation, Solution Delivery, the engineer will lead design, development, and deployment of agentic AI solutions tailored to client environments. Adapting to various AI platforms—including hyperscaler AI services and enterprise AI platforms like ServiceNow—the role demands accountability throughout initial deployment, production cycles, and support transition phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery processes to identify agentic AI use cases, translating business problems into actionable engineering goals with quantifiable success metrics.
  • Architect AI solution frameworks aligned with client environments, security requirements, and platform preferences, selecting appropriate AI substrates per project.
  • Develop production-quality software within client source control, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise governance protocols, ensuring compliance with approval, audit, and rollback standards.
  • Create and optimize retrieval pipelines, prompt engineering, agent orchestration, and human-in-the-loop mechanisms to handle real-world production variability.
  • Implement secure agent tool execution featuring permission controls, approval workflows, comprehensive audit trails, and rollback capabilities.
  • Design evaluation suites to detect hallucinations, regressions, grounding issues, and monitor production metrics such as latency and accuracy.
  • Integrate AI solutions with client identity management, secrets handling, network security, incident response, and compliance systems.
  • Provide ongoing support during cutover and initial production runs, facilitating knowledge transfer and documentation for support teams.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex production issues requiring architectural intervention.
  • Build trusted partnerships with client technical and business stakeholders, communicating effectively across technical and executive levels.
  • Develop reusable patterns, accelerators, and reference architectures based on field experiences to inform innovation and future engagements.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of professional engineering experience involving production system deployments.
  • Minimum 2 years engaging in live deployment of AI or machine learning systems, with particular emphasis on agentic or large language model technologies.
  • Proven expertise working directly with Fortune 500 or Global 2000 clients in complex, evolving environments.
  • Comprehensive experience owning system life cycles, including architecture, transition to support, and escalation processes.
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge and deliver results in emerging technical domains.
  • Strong grounding in enterprise systems-of-record, preferably with hands-on experience in ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle E-Business Suite, or JD Edwards, or deep business process understanding in areas like procurement, finance, and order-to-cash.

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with ERP and enterprise platforms including SAP, Oracle EBS, JD Edwards, Infor, ServiceNow, Salesforce, and Workday; direct SAP and Oracle experience is highly valued.
  • Competency with multiple agentic AI platforms and flexibility to adapt to client-selected AI technologies.
  • Prior roles as Forward Deployed Engineer or Applied AI Engineer, preferably at AI labs, hyperscalers, or systems integrators.
  • Proficient in production-quality Python and one or more languages like TypeScript, Java, Go, C#, or Scala, along with modern agent frameworks.
  • Strong SQL and data modelling capabilities, understanding data quality and operational semantics.
  • Experience with retrieval-augmented generation techniques including embeddings, vector stores, and reranking.
  • Skill in designing evaluation suites for LLM systems covering hallucination detection and output quality verification.
  • Expertise in AI observability including latency, token usage, error tracking, and performance drift metrics.
  • Knowledge of prominent agentic AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, Google Vertex AI, ServiceNow AI, and readiness to learn others.
  • Understanding of agent tool governance protocols involving Model Context Protocol or equivalent for safe execution controls.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns like REST and event-driven architectures, and identity protocols such as OIDC and SAML.
  • Frontend development experience using frameworks like Angular or React to create user-facing layers for AI agents.
  • Experience designing durable execution frameworks and workflow orchestration at scale.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills suited for technical and executive engagements, combined with high autonomy, resilience, and pragmatic problem-solving in complex, legacy environments.
